A group of selected Bundesliga players recently participated in an anonymous survey covering a wide range of football-related topics, including naming the best attacking player in Europe for the season.
The annual survey, organized by German outlet kicker, gathered opinions from 216 players across all 18 Bundesliga clubs, offering insights into some of football’s most talked-about subjects.
Among the notable outcomes, Bayern Munich’s Joao Palhinha was voted the biggest disappointment among outfield players, while Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz was recognized as the most impressive, earning 28.2% of the vote.
Beyond the Bundesliga, Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal was named the top attacking player in European football for the season. Yamal, who racked up 18 goals and 25 assists in all competitions for La Liga champions Barcelona, secured a commanding 53.7% of the vote. He was followed by Ousmane Dembélé (6.9%) and Kylian Mbappé (6%).
Yamal’s teammate Raphinha, once tipped as a Ballon d’Or contender, came fourth with 4.6% of the votes.
From the Premier League, Liverpool star and Player of the Season Mohamed Salah finished fifth with 3.7%, while Manchester City striker Erling Haaland received 2.8%.
The survey also touched on other positions. Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk was voted the world’s best defender, earning 27.3% of the vote, and PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma claimed the top spot among goalkeepers with the same percentage.
In the coaching category, Hansi Flick was voted Europe’s best manager of the season following his achievements with Barcelona, collecting 31.9% of the vote. He was trailed by PSG’s Champions League-winning boss Luis Enrique. Other notable names receiving votes included Xabi Alonso, Pep Guardiola, Arne Slot, Simone Inzaghi, Carlo Ancelotti, and Mikel Arteta.
