The former Rangers and Aston Villa manager has been out of a full-time coaching role since departing Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq earlier this year.
Recently, Gerrard has been in the spotlight due to speculation linking him with a managerial return to Rangers. He has also been spotted back in Liverpool for Arne Slot’s Premier League title celebration and featured prominently in Sky Sports’ coverage of the final match against Crystal Palace.
Now, Gerrard is set to rejoin the UK sports broadcasting scene as part of TNT Sports’ coverage of the Champions League final in Munich, Germany. He will be part of the panel analyzing the clash between Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, alongside Rio Ferdinand, who recently announced he’ll be leaving TNT Sports at the end of the season.
Since retiring from professional football, Gerrard has frequently appeared on TV, notably as a pundit for BT Sport’s European football coverage. However, his media appearances have become less frequent during his managerial stints.
This weekend’s appearance brings Gerrard full circle, as he stands next to the Champions League trophy in the year marking the anniversary of Liverpool’s fifth European triumph—an iconic comeback against AC Milan in Istanbul, in which Gerrard played a starring role. He is also featured in a recent TNT Sports documentary chronicling that memorable night in Turkey.
Meanwhile, rumors persist about Gerrard’s potential return to the dugout, with reports suggesting Rangers are interested in reuniting with the manager who led them to the Scottish Premiership title. TalkSPORT’s Jim White recently indicated that Gerrard is closing in on a return to Ibrox, possibly bringing former Liverpool teammate Jordan Henderson on board as his assistant, alongside Steven Davis.
