New Liverpool signing Jeremie Frimpong reveals the teammate he’s eager to build a strong connection with at Anfield.

Jeremie Frimpong Joins Liverpool, Eager for Mohamed Salah Link-Up and Arne Slot’s Guidance

Liverpool kicked off their summer transfer activity in style on Friday with the official announcement of Jeremie Frimpong’s arrival from Bayer Leverkusen. The Dutch right-back joins the Reds after the club activated his £30 million release clause.

Earlier the same day, Liverpool confirmed the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to join Real Madrid in a deal worth £10 million. With his contract due to expire at the end of June, Alexander-Arnold’s move marks the end of an era, and Frimpong now steps into a revamped setup under new manager Arne Slot.

At 24, Frimpong becomes the fourth member of the Dutch national team to be part of the Liverpool squad. Fans are already speculating about more arrivals, particularly Frimpong’s former Leverkusen teammate, Florian Wirtz.

In his first interview with LFCTV, Frimpong shared his enthusiasm about joining the club and spoke highly of one teammate in particular—Mohamed Salah.

Frimpong Relishes Prospect of Teaming Up with Salah

Although naturally a right-back, reports from The Athletic suggest Liverpool don’t view Frimpong as a like-for-like replacement for Alexander-Arnold. Instead, he’s expected to be a versatile option for manager Arne Slot, potentially playing in multiple roles across the pitch.

Nevertheless, Frimpong is likely to spend significant time on the right flank, where he’ll have the opportunity to combine with Salah. When asked about this possibility, Frimpong couldn’t contain his excitement.

“Playing with world-class players is a dream come true,” he said. “I’m going to be alongside Mo Salah, and really, the entire Liverpool team—just being part of this club is a blessing. I can’t wait to build that connection with him. I’m definitely excited—100 percent.”

Positive Conversations with Arne Slot

Frimpong also spoke about his early interactions with Liverpool’s new head coach, Arne Slot. The defender revealed that he had multiple discussions with Slot before finalizing his move to Anfield.

“I’ve already had a few chats with the manager. He’s very positive and talked about the energy and speed I can bring to the team,” Frimpong said. “When a coach speaks that confidently about you, it really boosts your self-belief.”

The Dutchman added that he had heard glowing endorsements of Slot from his national teammates, especially those who played under the coach at Feyenoord.

“Even during national team duty, some of the Feyenoord lads would say, ‘He’s the best coach I’ve ever had.’ Hearing things like that made me even more excited to work with him,” Frimpong said.

With the new season on the horizon, Frimpong’s arrival marks a fresh chapter for Liverpool—one filled with anticipation, new partnerships, and the promise of exciting football under Arne Slot.
