Shocking Video Reveals Liverpool Parade Driver’s Actions as He ‘Stalled’ Before ‘Plowing Through’ Crowd
Liverpool, May 26, 2025 — A shocking video has emerged showing the moment a vehicle reportedly “stalled” before accelerating into a crowd during Liverpool’s celebratory parade on Sunday. The disturbing incident, which left several people injured, is under investigation by Merseyside Police.
The footage, widely circulated on social media, captures a white vehicle pausing abruptly before unexpectedly lurching forward into a densely packed group of parade-goers near the city centre. Screams can be heard as onlookers scramble to get out of the way, while several individuals appear to be struck.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as “chaotic” and “terrifying,” with many initially unsure whether the incident was intentional or the result of a mechanical failure.
“He stalled, just sat there for a second,” said one witness. “Then suddenly, the car surged forward and hit people. It was like something out of a nightmare.”
Merseyside Police confirmed they have detained the driver and are currently interviewing him as part of their ongoing investigation. Authorities have not yet determined whether the incident was accidental or deliberate.
“We are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness,” a police spokesperson said. “We are reviewing all available footage and speaking to multiple witnesses. We urge anyone with video or information to come forward.”
Emergency services were quickly on the scene, tending to the injured and securing the area. At least four people were taken to hospital, though none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
The Liverpool parade, meant to be a jubilant celebration of the city’s recent sports and cultural successes, was abruptly halted following the incident.
Local officials and community leaders have called for calm and urged the public not to jump to conclusions as the investigation continues.
