Arsenal supporters suspect that one of their players might be leaving this summer after noticing a post by his wife on Instagram this past Sunday.
The Gunners secured a 1-0 win over Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium, with Declan Rice scoring the decisive goal. The result virtually guaranteed Arsenal second place ahead of their final match of the season against last-place Southampton.
Despite missing out on the Premier League title and being knocked out in the Champions League semi-finals, the Arsenal squad participated in a lap of honour after their last home game of the season.
However, fans believe that one player may have played his final match at the Emirates, based on social media activity from his wife.
Leandro Trossard, signed from Brighton for £27 million in January 2023, played most of the game before being substituted in the closing minutes. After the match, the players’ partners joined them on the pitch, but a couple of Instagram posts from Trossard’s wife, Laura Hilven, sparked speculation.
She reshared a story from @valeriejoeri that read, “Grateful for all the beautiful moments, you are beautiful inside and out.” She also posted a picture with Bukayo Saka’s girlfriend, captioned, “Mytwingirlforever. Loveyou.”
Due to the sentimental tone of these messages, some fans believe Trossard may be preparing to leave Arsenal after nearly two seasons.
One user on X reacted: “These captions are sounding a little too much like goodbye. Please no, Trossard, I can’t do this.”
Another commented: “He was a great addition and delivered in key moments, but if we want to take the next step, not renewing his contract might be the right choice.”
