In the first half, as both players battled for possession, Robertson was seen wrapping his hand around Saka’s neck and forcing him to the ground. Despite the clear physicality of the clash, officials waved play on and awarded Liverpool a throw-in, with no foul called.
The moment received minimal attention during the live broadcast on Sky Sports, even as Saka appealed to the linesman for a foul. However, fans didn’t stay quiet—many took to social media to express their outrage.
One fan questioned, “How is Robertson allowed to strangle Saka?” while another sarcastically remarked, “Saka just got chokeslammed—apparently that’s legal now.” Others were equally critical, calling the lack of a foul call “embarrassing” and demanding at least a booking for Robertson.
The frustration deepened for Arsenal when just minutes later, Robertson assisted Cody Gakpo for Liverpool’s opening goal, which was quickly followed by a second from Luis Díaz. Fortunately for the Gunners, Gabriel Martinelli responded soon after the break to cut the deficit.
