Thomas Partey is expected to become a free agent this summer as his Arsenal contract nears its expiration. Despite being a regular in the team this season—and recording more appearances and goals than in any of his previous four campaigns—the midfielder appears set to leave the club at the end of June.
Former Manchester United scout Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider in December that Arsenal had no plans to begin contract renewal talks with Partey, and that stance has not changed over the past five months.
More recently, Football Insider reported that both Partey and Jorginho are expected to depart Arsenal this summer, likely on free transfers, with significant interest already building around them.
A move to the Saudi Pro League is reportedly in the works for Partey. Arsenal have decided not to extend his five-year tenure, and the club is already preparing to reinforce Mikel Arteta’s midfield. On April 21, journalist Sacha Tavolieri noted that while several Premier League and Serie A clubs are interested, Partey is especially drawn to a move to Saudi Arabia. Negotiations over a three-year deal with Saudi officials are said to be well advanced.
Though he is settled in London and could consider staying in England, Partey has already given the green light to a Middle Eastern move, likely viewing it as the final major contract of his career.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are already planning for life after Partey and Jorginho. As they aim to close the gap on Liverpool in the title race next season, the club is targeting high-profile midfield reinforcements. While a deal for Martin Zubimendi reportedly hit a snag, Arsenal remain optimistic. Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich has also been mentioned as a possible replacement in the defensive midfield role, but the club’s final choice remains to be seen.
