Jürgen Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, has addressed speculation linking the former Liverpool manager with the Real Madrid job, amid growing reports that Carlo Ancelotti could depart the Spanish giants this summer.
Klopp, 57, stepped down from his role at Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season and has not taken on a new managerial position since. He currently serves as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer, overseeing the football operations across the group’s clubs.
Recent reports have suggested that Real Madrid is exploring potential successors for Ancelotti, with Klopp’s name surfacing alongside candidates like Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg shared an update on Friday via X, stating: “There are new rumours linking Jürgen Klopp with Real Madrid and Brazil.”
Plettenberg quoted Klopp’s agent, Kosicke, who said: “Jürgen is very happy with his new role as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull.” He added that while Klopp continues to attract strong interest from elite clubs and national teams, “he still has no intention of returning to coaching next season — not even for Real Madrid or Brazil.” Xabi Alonso is still considered Real Madrid’s preferred choice.
As for Klopp himself, he commented on his future during an event in March, saying that managing again was “the last thing” on his mind. Reflecting on his career, Klopp remarked, “I coached 1,081 games. I lost absolutely each final available — some I won, too. And, no, I’m in a happy place.”
Klopp announced his departure from Liverpool back in January 2024, citing fatigue as a key reason. In an emotional farewell, he said, “I am running out of energy. I know I cannot keep doing this job over and over again. After everything we’ve been through together, the least I owe you is the truth — and that is the truth.”
