Bukayo Saka has clarified rumors that he deliberately copied Thierry Henry’s famous celebration during Arsenal’s clash with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.
Arsenal advanced to the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in 16 years after overcoming the defending champions.
After missing a penalty earlier in the game, Saka redeemed himself with a brilliant chipped goal and followed it up by shushing the crowd—a move similar to one made by Henry at the same venue back in 2006. Speaking to Henry on CBS after the match, Saka explained that the celebration wasn’t inspired by the Arsenal legend.
“To be fair, not really, you know,” he said. “I just wanted to have my own moment, but it’s cool that Thierry did it too, and now we have that image in common.”
