Mo Salah might have unintentionally revealed a major update about his Liverpool contract.

Liverpool moved a step closer to clinching the Premier League title with a gritty 2-1 win over West Ham United, capitalizing on Arsenal’s stumble against Brentford to extend their lead at the top by 13 points. With only a handful of matches remaining, a 20th league crown is now firmly within reach.

Mohamed Salah, fresh off a new two-year contract signed on Friday, wasted no time making an impact. Just 17 minutes in, the Egyptian star delivered a sublime assist to Luis Díaz, who calmly finished to give Liverpool an early lead.

Despite dominating the first half, Liverpool couldn’t extend their advantage, allowing West Ham to stay in the game. The Hammers found a late equalizer in the 86th minute after a miscommunication between Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk resulted in an unfortunate own goal by Robertson.

But just three minutes later, Liverpool hit back. Alexis Mac Allister whipped in a perfect corner, and Van Dijk rose to head home the winner, celebrating with a kiss to the badge in front of the travelling fans.

After the game, Salah may have unintentionally let slip a major update about Van Dijk’s future at Liverpool. In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, while discussing his own contract renewal, Salah hinted that Van Dijk could be next to re-sign:

“I’m happy we sorted that before the season ends, and hopefully Virgil will be next.”

Realizing he might have said too much, Salah chuckled and quickly added:

“I’m just hoping – hopefully! He can do what he wants, but I’d love to see him here again next season.”

Both Salah and Van Dijk have been crucial to Liverpool’s title charge — Salah leading the attack and Van Dijk anchoring the defense. Their influence continues to drive the team forward as Liverpool edge ever closer to glory.
