A leaked document has allegedly exposed Liverpool’s unusual hotel demands.

Footballers are among the highest-paid athletes, often traveling in luxury.

During the 2016/17 season, Liverpool, managed by Jürgen Klopp, traveled to Huddersfield for a pre-season friendly at the John Smith’s Stadium, where they secured a 2-0 victory with goals from Marko Grujić and Alberto Moreno.

Before the match, The Daily Star leaked a document outlining Liverpool’s hotel requirements. Titled “LIVERPOOL FC – Domestic Hotel Requirements Seasons 2016-2017,” it detailed specific requests for players and coaching staff.

According to the document, then-captain Jordan Henderson had to be in a room next to Adam Lallana, while Philippe Coutinho required a fan in his room. Klopp and assistant Peter Krawietz were allocated smoking rooms. The coaching staff’s rooms were to be together but separate from the players.

Liverpool insisted that all players be housed on the same floor in a designated area. Each player was provided with a double bed, WiFi, and a room key. Rooms featured Pay TV, but hotel phone lines were restricted for both incoming and outgoing calls.

There were also catering-related instructions. Each room had to contain two one-liter bottles of water, while minibars were stocked only with fruit juice and water—alcohol and snacks were prohibited.

Additionally, the club required porters to assist with luggage and provided trolleys for arriving players. Players were also instructed to wear New Balance clothing and accessories—excluding footwear—since the brand was Liverpool’s kit supplier at the time.

Finally, all players had to bring their passports, as they were set to depart for a pre-season tour in the USA.

Now, under Arne Slot’s leadership, Liverpool’s list of hotel requirements has likely been updated.
