Signing a left-back is one of Liverpool’s top priorities for the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Reds have struggled in that position this season, with Andy Robertson not at his best and Kostas Tsimikas failing to make a significant impact.
While Liverpool boasts a world-class defense featuring Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konaté, and Virgil van Dijk, the left-back role remains a weak spot in need of serious reinforcement.
Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez has emerged as Liverpool’s main target to fill that gap. However, securing the Hungarian defender may prove challenging.
According to Sky Sports France, Juventus have now joined the race for Kerkez and are pushing to sign him. Bournemouth are reportedly asking for around €45 million for the young full-back.
Juventus view Kerkez as a top target, especially if they lose Andrea Cambiaso this summer, and have already opened talks with the player’s representatives. Their sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, is said to be directly involved in negotiations.
With Juventus now moving ahead of Liverpool in pursuit of Kerkez, the Reds face serious competition. Additionally, Juventus enjoy a strong relationship with Fali Ramadani, Kerkez’s agent, which could give them an advantage.
Liverpool, known for being strategic and selective in the transfer market, might avoid a bidding war unless they’re sure the player is keen on joining them. The club is likely cautious after the Romeo Lavia saga, where the player snubbed Liverpool for Chelsea at the last moment.
Finances may not be a problem for either Liverpool or Juventus, so ultimately, the decision may rest with Kerkez himself.
Given Liverpool’s strong performances domestically and in Europe, Anfield could offer Kerkez a better shot at silverware compared to Juventus.
Meanwhile, if Kerkez arrives, young defender Jarell Quansah may go out on loan to gain more first-team experience.
