Viktor Gyokeres’ future has taken an unexpected turn as the Sporting CP star has made his stance clear on a high-profile transfer.
The Swedish striker, who joined Sporting from Coventry City, has been at the center of intense transfer speculation following his outstanding goal-scoring form this season.
Gyokeres has netted an impressive 37 goals in just 39 appearances across all competitions, building on his remarkable tally of 43 goals from last season.
His prolific performances in Portugal’s top division have attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including several Premier League giants.
Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea are reportedly keen on securing his signature when the summer transfer window opens.
Their hopes of landing the 26-year-old have been boosted by a major update on his future.
According to Portuguese outlet Record, Gyokeres has made it clear that he intends to leave Sporting this summer.
The publication highlighted his desire to depart with the headline “Exit in Glory,” emphasizing his goal of winning another domestic title before moving on.
Sporting currently lead the Portuguese league, though they have played one more game than second-placed Benfica, who trail by three points. Third-placed Porto also remains in contention, sitting six points behind the leaders.
Gyokeres, who started his professional career at Brighton, joined Sporting in the summer of 2023 for an initial fee of £17.5 million.
His reputation soared during his time in the Championship, and since moving to Portugal, he has netted an impressive 80 goals.
However, it now appears this season will be his last at Sporting, with a return to English football seemingly on the horizon.
