According to Football Insider, Yossi Benayoun has held discussions with Arsenal regarding the vacant sporting director position, a year after stepping down from a similar role with the Israel national team. The 44-year-old, who also previously worked as sporting director at Beitar Jerusalem, appears eager to return to the Premier League in a leadership capacity.

Speaking to the outlet, Benayoun stated:
“Of course, I would be interested in a sporting director role in England, but I am also a pro-licensed coach. Let’s see what comes up.”

A Move That May Disappoint Liverpool Fans

Despite his spells with two of Liverpool’s biggest rivals—Chelsea and Arsenal—after leaving Anfield in 2010, Benayoun remains fondly remembered by Reds fans for his crucial goals. He became the first player to score hat-tricks in the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup (all with Liverpool) and famously netted the winner against Real Madrid in 2009. His late goal against Fulham in the same season was also a defining moment in Liverpool’s title push.

If Benayoun were to accept the sporting director role at Arsenal, it might not sit well with Liverpool supporters, given the growing rivalry between the two clubs as they battle for domestic dominance.
