Mo Salah once again proved to be Manchester City’s nightmare in the opening 15 minutes at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.
The Liverpool forward broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when Dominik Szoboszlai flicked a corner into his path, allowing Salah to fire the ball into the net for his 30th goal of the season and his 13th against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Salah Leaves Ake Behind
Just two minutes earlier, Salah picked up the ball on the right flank inside Liverpool’s half, closely marked by Nathan Ake. Despite the tight space, the 32-year-old surged forward, pulling off an audacious flick to get past the City defender before accelerating into open space.
Although the attack was eventually halted, Salah had already driven deep into City’s penalty area, showing why he’s the Premier League’s current top scorer.
Too Quick for Ake
Many players in Salah’s position would have struggled to advance beyond the halfway line under pressure, but the Liverpool star’s pace and skill put him in a different league. Ake did his best to contain him but had no answer when Salah turned on the speed.
This moment came at a crucial time for Liverpool, especially with City’s Jeremy Doku causing problems on the left against Trent Alexander-Arnold. However, it was Salah who delivered the first decisive moment of the match, potentially steering Liverpool towards an 11-point lead in the Premier League title race.
