Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta did not hold back in his criticism following his team’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to West Ham United at the Emirates. The loss was a major setback in Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes, and Arteta made his frustration crystal clear in his post-match comments.
“I am VERY, VERY ANGRY. But very ANGRY,” Arteta fumed. “That was nowhere near the level needed to win the Premier League.”
West Ham secured all three points in what was a frustrating evening for the Gunners, who struggled to break down David Moyes’ well-organized side. Despite dominating possession and creating multiple chances, Arsenal lacked the cutting edge in front of goal.
“Congrats to West Ham, but there was a lot from our side that we didn’t get right,” Arteta admitted. “I never felt that we were at the standard and the level that we needed.”
The defeat leaves Arsenal with an uphill battle in the title race, and Arteta will be expecting a strong response from his players in their upcoming fixtures.
