Wataru Endo praised Liverpool’s hard-fought and significant 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon.
The midfielder was named Carlsberg Player of the Match by fans for his crucial impact as a substitute in the Premier League clash at Anfield. Endo entered the game in the second half to help secure the win, as Arne Slot’s side had to battle for all three points on Merseyside.
Liverpool initially took a two-goal lead in the first half, with Luis Díaz scoring and Mohamed Salah converting a penalty. However, Matheus Cunha pulled one back for Wolves with just over 20 minutes remaining, setting up a tense finale.
Endo was among the substitutes brought on to help close out the match, ensuring a crucial victory ahead of upcoming away games against Aston Villa and Manchester City.
“I’m really happy we got the three points,” he told Liverpoolfc.com after the game. “It was a tough match, but we had to fight until the final whistle, and I think we showed that. It’s an important win.”
Reflecting on key moments, he added, “We thought we had a third goal, but it was offside. Then we won a penalty, but it wasn’t given, and after that, we conceded. The fans really pushed us through. My job when I came on was to help keep the score at 2-1, and I think I did that.”

“I was tasked with marking their No.10 [Cunha] man-to-man. Defensively, I had to track him all over the pitch and cover wherever needed.”
