One of Arne Slot’s key transfer targets has publicly ruled out a move to Liverpool during a live broadcast.
Liverpool have yet to make a January signing, following their two additions during the summer transfer window. Federico Chiesa joined the club from Juventus for £12.5 million and is now finding form at Anfield after recovering from injury. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who signed for £25 million plus £4 million in add-ons, remains on loan at Valencia until the end of the season.
The likelihood of new signings in January seems slim, as Liverpool’s primary focus is reportedly on renewing contracts for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk. However, a potential transfer target has seemingly ruled himself out of joining the Reds.
Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, who has been linked to Liverpool as a potential long-term successor to Andy Robertson, addressed speculation during a recent YouTube live stream. The 21-year-old Hungary international, recognized as one of the Premier League’s standout full-backs this season for his attacking contributions, received comments from Liverpool fans urging him to join the club.
In response, Kerkez read out the fan requests and stated, “Yes, yes. I will not go to Liverpool. For everybody listening, I will not go to Liverpool.”
For now, Kerkez is focused on his season with Bournemouth, who currently sit sixth in the Premier League table after an impressive 10-match unbeaten run under manager Andoni Iraola. This streak, which includes a dominant 4-1 win over Newcastle last weekend, highlights the Cherries’ resilience, even without a natural striker due to injuries.
Whether Kerkez reconsiders his stance in the summer remains uncertain, but his immediate commitment to Bournemouth is clear.
