Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has encouraged Bukayo Saka to take a short break to aid his recovery from a serious hamstring injury, emphasizing the importance of giving the winger time to “refresh” before returning to the pitch.
The 23-year-old is expected to be out until March after sustaining the injury during Arsenal’s 5-1 win over Crystal Palace in December. Since undergoing surgery last month, Saka has been working on his rehabilitation at Arsenal’s London Colney training facility, remaining close to his teammates. However, Arteta believes that a brief time away from football will benefit both Saka’s physical recovery and mental well-being.
When asked if Saka should take a break, Arteta responded, “Yes, he needs to. He has to go away—with his girlfriend, his family, or even alone. It’s up to him. He needs a few days to refresh. He can still continue aspects of his rehabilitation during this period, which is the ideal stage for him. It will help him recover better.”
Arteta underlined the importance of mental and physical rejuvenation during recovery. “He has been here with his teammates every day. But at some point, especially when we’ll be away for a few days, he needs that break. It’s crucial for him. We have to take care of our players.”
Since his debut for Arsenal in 2015, Saka has become a vital part of the team, making 250 appearances, scoring 67 goals, and providing 67 assists. His performances have also earned him 43 caps for England since his debut in October 2020.
Saka’s injury is a significant setback to Arsenal’s title hopes, as he has been a standout performer in recent seasons. While his absence will be felt, Arteta and the team are determined to maintain their form during this period.
The club is optimistic about Saka’s full recovery and hopes for his swift return. His influence on and off the field is irreplaceable, and his comeback will be key as Arsenal continues to push for success this season.
For now, Arsenal must navigate the challenges of the Premier League without their star winger. The squad’s depth and contributions from other players will be crucial in maintaining their title challenge.
Saka’s recovery will be closely monitored, with the club offering full support to ensure he regains peak fitness. His return will undoubtedly provide a morale boost as Arsenal continues their pursuit of their goals.
The coming weeks will test the team’s resolve, but with a strong squad and determined spirit, Arsenal remains confident in overcoming obstacles and achieving success. Saka’s eventual return will reinforce their ambitions, bringing his creativity, skill, and dedication back to the forefront as they chase silverware.
