Arsenal remain in the hunt for the Premier League title following their crucial victory over Tottenham on Wednesday. The club has now been linked with potential January signings Viktor Gyokeres and Nico Williams.
With injuries severely impacting Arsenal’s squad, calls for reinforcements have grown louder. Bukayo Saka has been out for weeks, breakout talent Ethan Nwaneri is also sidelined, and Gabriel Jesus is now expected to miss the rest of the season.
Sitting just four points behind leaders Liverpool after their latest win, Arsenal could benefit greatly from strengthening key areas in the squad. Manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly working behind the scenes to bring in new talent to bolster their title challenge.
Attack: Targeting a New Striker
The Gunners are likely to focus most of their spending on attacking reinforcements, given Jesus’ long-term absence. Several names have been linked, including Benjamin Sesko, Alexander Isak, and Bryan Mbeumo. However, Arteta appears to have prioritized Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres. Reports suggest Arsenal are prepared to trigger the £83 million release clause in his contract, with Gyokeres boasting an incredible 32 goals in 30 games this season.
Left-Flank Addition: Nico Williams
Arsenal have also shown interest in Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, a long-term target. Like Gyokeres, Williams has a release clause that Arsenal might activate. While the player has not finalized his future, Arsenal are reportedly leading the race for his signature. His arrival would strengthen the left flank, especially as Saka is expected to return later in the season.
Midfield Boost: Martin Zubimendi
Arsenal are also pursuing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. Though his transfer is expected to be finalized in the summer, the Gunners are keen to bring him in this month to pair him with Declan Rice. Captain Martin Odegaard would complete a dominant midfield trio.
Defense: Stability Remains
Defensively, Arsenal appear settled. Jurrien Timber has begun to show his best form following his summer transfer, while Riccardo Calafiori has solidified the other full-back position. The central partnership of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes continues to impress, and David Raya has emerged as the preferred goalkeeper for the long term.

If Arteta secures his targets, Arsenal could field a formidable lineup:
