Arsenal fans have been won over by Myles Lewis-Skelly following his impactful performance in the North London derby.

Arsenal’s rising star Myles Lewis-Skelly won over the Emirates crowd with a standout performance in Wednesday’s North London derby.

Mikel Arteta’s side fought back to claim a vital three points, with goals from Dominic Solanke (own goal) and Leandro Trossard securing the win. Among the standout players was 18-year-old full-back Lewis-Skelly, who shone in his debut North London derby with an impressive all-around display.

Not only was he solid defensively, but he also contributed in attack, completing 94% of his passes while making two interceptions and two clearances. His composure and skill caught the eye of teammate Declan Rice, who compared his ability to carry the ball to former Spurs midfielder Mousa Dembele. Speaking to TNT Sports, Rice said, “He’s got that Mousa Dembele trait, using his body to evade challenges.”

Lewis-Skelly also made an impact with the crowd, taunting the traveling Tottenham fans by “shushing” them after Arsenal took the lead. He further energized the home supporters when he was booked for time-wasting before being substituted for Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Fans on social media were full of praise for the teenager. One wrote, “Myles Lewis-Skelly outstanding again at left-back, inverting into midfield when needed, reading the game superbly and intercepting well. Very composed. Totally unfazed by the hype and tension around the #NLD. Only 18.”

Another declared him man of the match, saying, “Unbelievable performance in that atmosphere, and he loved every second of it.” Others highlighted his seamless adaptation to senior football, with one fan noting, “He’s consistent enough to cement a starting spot at 18—our biggest positive this season.”

Others marveled at his physical presence, with one fan saying, “The way players just bounce off Lewis-Skelly will never get old to watch, absolute unit.”

Reports suggest Arsenal is already in talks to extend Lewis-Skelly’s contract after his breakout season. He only signed his first professional deal in October of last year, but his meteoric rise has fans excited about his future.
