Liverpool fans criticize Arne Slot for a ‘shocking decision’ against Nottingham Forest, claiming it ‘cost them the win.’

Liverpool fans have criticized Arne Slot for his “shocking” team selection after the team dropped points against high-flying Nottingham Forest.

Slot’s side had to fight back to secure a draw, having fallen behind early to a Chris Wood goal. Forest, the surprise package of the Premier League season, exploited Liverpool’s defense with ease, scoring in the eighth minute.

Despite the best efforts of Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels, Liverpool managed to equalize late in the game when substitute Diogo Jota headed in from a corner 15 minutes from time.

Slot’s decision to leave Jota on the bench in favor of starting Luis Díaz as a striker sparked frustration among fans. Díaz struggled in the role, managing just one shot in 75 minutes before being replaced by Jota, who scored within 25 seconds of coming on.

Fans expressed their displeasure on social media:

One said, “Desperate for a striker. As much as I like Díaz, we really need a focal point. A proper striker.”

Another wrote, “Luis Diaz is not a striker, stop playing him there.”

A third added, “Jota needs to start every game he physically can, Díaz as a striker doesn’t work most of the time.”

One fan commented, “If Díaz plays striker again, I’m going to lose it. Start Jota or Danns instead. That experiment was dead on arrival.”

Another claimed, “We 100% win that game if Jota starts. Shocking decision.”

Despite the draw, Liverpool remain firmly in control of the Premier League title race, holding a six-point lead over Forest with a game in hand.
