Arsenal Investigate Threats Made to Kai Havertz’s Wife Following FA Cup Exit
Arsenal are investigating violent threats directed at Kai Havertz’s wife, Sophia Weber, after the team’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester United on Sunday. Havertz played a key role in the match at the Emirates Stadium, winning a penalty after being fouled by Harry Maguire while the game was tied 1-1. However, Martin Odegaard’s penalty was saved, and the match eventually went to a penalty shootout after extra time, despite United playing with 10 men for most of the match following Diogo Dalot’s second yellow card.
Havertz missed a decisive penalty in the shootout, resulting in Arsenal’s elimination. The loss came just days after the team faced a difficult two-goal deficit in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Newcastle. Following the defeat, Sophia Weber revealed disturbing messages she received online, with some targeting her pregnancy.
Arsenal Address Online Abuse
Weber shared screenshots of the abusive messages on her Instagram story, including a death threat directed at her unborn child. One message read, “I’m going to come to your house and slaughter your baby I’m not joking just wait,” while another stated, “I hope you have a miscarriage.”
Reacting to the messages, Weber expressed her shock and disappointment:
“For anyone to think it’s okay to write something like this is so shocking to me… I hope you are ashamed of yourself. I’m not even sure what to say, but please guys, be more respectful. We are better than this,” she wrote.
According to The Standard, Arsenal are now working with a third-party investigator to identify the individuals responsible. The club intends to take the strongest possible action against those involved, and the accounts have been reported to Instagram for further action.
