David Ornstein provides details on a player Arsenal ‘really like,’ which could spell trouble for Manchester United.

Arsenal are reportedly showing strong interest in highly-regarded European talent Sverre Nypan, who has also drawn attention from major clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund.

Nypan, who became Rosenborg’s youngest-ever player in 2022 at just 15 years and 322 days old, has since established himself as a key member of their first team. The versatile attacking midfielder has impressed by breaking multiple club records and contributing eight goals and seven assists to help Rosenborg secure fourth place in the Eliteserien.

According to a report from TeamTalk, both Manchester United and Chelsea have engaged in discussions with Nypan’s agent, while scouts from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich have monitored his progress. In November, it was reported that United were actively pursuing a deal for the 17-year-old, and by December, they were linked to a potential £10 million move during the January transfer window. However, Arsenal has now emerged as a strong competitor in the race for his signature.

Speaking on The Athletic FC podcast, journalist David Ornstein shed light on Arsenal’s interest in Nypan. He stated that Arsenal, like other top clubs, are actively scouting Europe’s brightest young talents. “I’ve heard that Arsenal really like Sverre Nypan, but so do many others,” Ornstein said, adding that while no transfer is imminent, Nypan is the kind of prospect Arsenal might invest in for the future.

Ornstein also noted that while Arsenal may not be overly active in the current transfer market, they remain a significant topic of discussion during transfer windows.

In a recent interview with Norwegian outlet Nettavisen, Nypan discussed his future, emphasizing the importance of careful decision-making. “Moving to a slightly smaller but higher-ranked club than Rosenborg doesn’t guarantee playing time,” he said. “Breaking into a big team is difficult, but success isn’t guaranteed anywhere.” He also stressed the importance of personally visiting potential clubs before making a decision. “I won’t sign with any club without first seeing it for myself,” he added.
