A Liverpool player has reportedly declined a new contract offer from the club, raising concerns that another key star may be on the verge of leaving.
Since taking over from Jurgen Klopp this summer, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has impressed by guiding the team to first place in both the Premier League and Champions League this season.
However, much of the attention has been on contract talks involving star trio Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all of whom could leave as free agents next summer.
According to reports, winger Luis Díaz has also rejected Liverpool’s initial contract extension offer. Currently signed until 2027, Díaz reportedly feels the offer does not reflect his value to the team or his contributions since joining from Porto in January 2022.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona could be interested in signing the Colombian winger if he becomes available on the transfer market. The La Liga club is reportedly seeking to bolster their left-wing options.
Despite this, Liverpool is expected to push for a resolution, as Díaz is enjoying his best season at the club, with 12 goals in 25 appearances—matching his previous season’s tally in half the games.
The club is likely to continue negotiations to secure Díaz’s long-term future and avoid a repeat of the uncertainties surrounding Salah, Van Dijk, and Alexander-Arnold.
