Mikel Arteta gave a reserved and cryptic response when asked about Arsenal’s potential transfer activity in the January window.
Addressing the club’s plans, he said: “We are very alert to what happens in the market. It’s not a yes, it’s not a no. Simply adding players doesn’t help.
“We have high standards, and we only want players who either come through our academy or can genuinely elevate and impact the team. Otherwise, just signing players for the sake of it doesn’t benefit us.”
The Gunners are under pressure to strengthen their attacking options, with Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri sidelined due to injuries. Nwaneri, Arteta confirmed, will be out for “a few weeks” with a muscle issue.
However, Arsenal may need to offload some players before they can make new signings, potentially leading to a frustrating transfer window for fans.
