Liverpool are poised to end Stefan Bajcetic’s loan deal after the sacking of their former assistant manager.

Liverpool are preparing to recall Stefan Bajcetic from his loan at Red Bull Salzburg following the Austrian club’s decision to part ways with former Reds assistant manager Pep Lijnders last month.

Lijnders, who was appointed in the summer, was dismissed in December after just five months in charge. During his tenure, he secured a season-long loan for Bajcetic and also brought in Liverpool’s Bobby Clark on a permanent deal.

However, Bajcetic is now reportedly on the verge of leaving Salzburg, with Real Betis currently in advanced talks for a potential move, although the deal is not yet finalized.

Since joining Salzburg, Bajcetic has made 18 appearances for the club across all competitions. He previously made 22 appearances for Liverpool, scoring once, after arriving from Celta Vigo in 2020. Klopp handed him his professional debut in the Premier League at just 17 years old.

Now, the Spanish under-21 international is expected to return to Spain with Real Betis under manager Manuel Pellegrini. Betis are currently ninth in La Liga after six wins from 18 matches and will also compete in the Europa Conference League, facing Gent in a knockout play-off round in February.
