Liverpool supporters left worried after Alexis Mac Allister’s recent remarks fuel Real Madrid speculation
Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has stated that he is not currently engaged in any contract discussions with the club, despite increasing rumors about his future at Anfield.
The Argentina international, a standout performer in Liverpool’s midfield since his 2023 transfer from Brighton and a World Cup winner, made it clear that no talks are happening to extend his contract on Merseyside. Ahead of the upcoming clash with Galatasaray, he addressed the speculation calmly.
As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Mac Allister said: “We are not in contract talks with Liverpool. There are no negotiations over a new deal, but we are not in a rush.”
The 27-year-old’s existing deal is valid until the summer of 2028, which provides Liverpool with some flexibility and time.
This comes as the club has moved quickly to lock in other important players, including Ryan Gravenberch, who recently committed to a long-term extension running until 2032.
Mac Allister’s father and agent, Carlos, has supported his son’s comments in a recent interview, explaining that while the player is content at Liverpool, they are waiting for the club to initiate discussions. The absence of talks appears to stem from a deliberate strategy by Liverpool’s leadership, as they juggle multiple significant contract cases, such as Ibrahima Konate’s.
The lack of progress has naturally drawn attention from Real Madrid. The Spanish powerhouse is said to be keeping a close eye on Mac Allister’s status as they aim to bolster their midfield after losing experienced figures.
Reports indicate that Los Blancos are still searching for players to match the technical quality once provided by Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, with Mac Allister viewed as a prime candidate.
Given that Real Madrid already secured Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool in 2025, Liverpool supporters are worried that the Argentine star could be the next high-profile departure heading to the Bernabéu.
