Premier League: Igor Tudor provides latest injury update on Pedro Porro and Kevin Danso
Tottenham Hotspur interim head coach Igor Tudor has hinted that Kevin Danso and Pedro Porro could finally return to action when Spurs take on Fulham next week.
Positive updates from the club’s medical team have been scarce this season. Although Richarlison made his comeback against Arsenal, Tudor is still grappling with a lengthy injury list. Wilson Odobert has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign after tearing his ACL, joining Porro (thigh), Dejan Kulusevski (knee), James Maddison (ACL), Mohammed Kudus (thigh), Danso (ankle), Destiny Udogie (thigh), Lucas Bergvall (ankle), Ben Davies (ankle), and Rodrigo Bentancur (thigh) on the treatment table.
Adding to the problems, Cristian Romero is serving the second match of a four-game suspension, preventing Tudor from deploying his preferred back-three formation.
Danso has been sidelined since last month’s 2-0 Champions League victory away to Eintracht Frankfurt with an ankle problem, but after seeing a specialist, he is now close to returning. Porro, meanwhile, has been out since the 2-2 draw at Burnley after sustaining a hamstring injury. Ahead of Sunday’s visit to Craven Cottage, Tudor suggested both could be in contention.
“Yeah, probably two of them. We hope,” said the Croatian. “We’ll see what’s best for the team.”
With only 11 league matches left, Tudor is eager to welcome reinforcements as Spurs fight to preserve their Premier League status. His reign began painfully, with a 4-1 defeat to Arsenal making him the first Tottenham manager since André Villas-Boas in August 2012 to lose his opening league game. The nine managers before him, including caretakers, had all avoided defeat.
Concerns over relegation have grown after West Ham picked up a point against Bournemouth, leaving Spurs just four points clear of the bottom three.
The meeting with Fulham now presents a vital chance to end what has become their longest winless run in a single season since a nine-game stretch in November 2007.
