Arne Slot predicts Mo Salah will surpass another Liverpool record following Sunderland assist

Mohamed Salah Joins Steven Gerrard in Liverpool History
Mohamed Salah has firmly cemented his legacy at Liverpool, matching Steven Gerrard’s record for the most Premier League assists in the club’s history.

The Egyptian superstar notched his 92nd assist on Wednesday night, delivering a sublime corner that captain Virgil van Dijk powered home to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

The decisive moment came in the 61st minute of a tightly contested match, breaking the deadlock and putting Salah level with the legendary Gerrard’s long-standing tally.

It’s yet another milestone for the 33-year-old, who has shattered nearly every record during his nine years at Anfield.

Slot Hails Salah’s Brilliance
Liverpool manager Arne Slot couldn’t hide his admiration on Match of the Day, praising his talisman and the significance of sharing a record with a club icon like Gerrard.

“He has so many records for this club, but to have this one alongside such a great player… both have been unbelievable for this club,” Slot said.

When asked if Salah would surpass Gerrard, the Dutchman didn’t hesitate. “Unfortunately for Steven, I expect Mo to go above him. I don’t just expect it—I hope he does,” he added.

Salah’s Future at Liverpool in Question
Despite the historic achievement, Salah’s long-term future at Anfield remains uncertain. The winger has been strongly linked with a summer move to Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ittihad.

Reports suggest preliminary talks between the club and Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, are already underway. Following a fallout with Slot in December, when Salah felt unfairly blamed, the Egyptian star is reportedly more open to a move than ever before.

With Liverpool weighing the potential financial windfall and Al-Ittihad looking to replace high-profile departures like Karim Benzema, a summer exit for the club’s record-breaking star seems increasingly likely.
