Liverpool have begun discussions with a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold but are also interested in signing Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, according to recent reports.
Alexander-Arnold’s future remains uncertain, with just eight months left on his current contract and no decision yet regarding his next move. While Liverpool are eager to open contract talks with the player, who has made over 300 appearances for the club, reports from Spain indicate that his representatives have held talks with Real Madrid.
It was revealed last month that contract negotiations have stalled, as Liverpool are unwilling to offer Alexander-Arnold a higher salary than Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
In light of this, Caught Offside reports that Liverpool are targeting Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong as a potential replacement for Alexander-Arnold, with talks for Frimpong already underway. In addition to Frimpong, Liverpool are also keen on signing Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, a Hungarian international, who is viewed as a long-term successor to Andrew Robertson.
Kerkez, 21, joined Bournemouth last year for approximately £15.5 million from AZ Alkmaar and has impressed in the Premier League under manager Andoni Iraola. His performances have made him one of the most coveted players in the league. However, Liverpool may face competition from Manchester United, who are also pursuing Kerkez due to ongoing injury concerns with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Reports suggest that Kerkez may be more inclined to join Manchester United, as he has personal connections to the club through his family. As a result, Liverpool could miss out on the player, and they are reportedly considering alternative options, including Fulham’s Antonee Robinson and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rayan Ait-Nouri.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Kerkez spoke about his aspirations, saying, “I believe I can make it at the top level of football… then I can build an even bigger legacy.”
