Tottenham informed they possess an 18-year-old with the mindset of a seasoned World Cup star.

One of Germany’s all-time greats has expressed huge admiration for a rising Tottenham Hotspur star, and supporters will love the glowing praise he received.
Several young Spurs players have caught the eye while out on loan this season, but one standout performer has truly separated himself from the pack.

Luka Vušković has continued to shine for Hamburg, making his presence felt both defensively and offensively, with his reputation growing after every match. Tottenham fans are already excited about the 18-year-old’s rapid progress, and now a legendary figure has added his stamp of approval.

Lothar Matthäus, one of the most iconic names in German football, has openly marvelled at Vušković’s abilities. Though he spent much of his career as a defensive midfielder, Matthäus later became an elite sweeper, earning praise for his exceptional reading of the game.

The former Germany captain, who earned 150 international caps, admitted that the young Spurs defender is showing qualities he himself didn’t possess at such a young age. Speaking to Sky Sports Germany, Matthäus said:

“At 18, he plays like someone who has already featured in three World Cups. Even at 30, I didn’t see the game the way he does at 18. He’s an incredibly intelligent player.”

With Matthäus being a Bayern Munich legend, his comments have also fuelled speculation about the Bundesliga giants’ interest in Vušković. He is not the only Bayern-related figure to praise the teenager, as Vincent Kompany recently labelled him a “big talent” and admitted he has been impressed by his Bundesliga performances.

Some may interpret this wave of praise as part of Bayern’s subtle attempt to win over the young defender, especially with reports that the club have already explored a potential move—an approach Tottenham have firmly rejected.
