Top Journalist Reveals Major Curtis Jones Update Following Transfer Shock

 

 

Respected Liverpool journalist James Pearce has shared a major update on Curtis Jones’ future.

The 25-year-old midfielder, a product of Liverpool’s academy, made his senior debut in 2018. Since then, he has racked up 208 appearances for the Reds across all competitions, scoring 19 goals. Along the way, Jones has lifted two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup, the FA Community Shield, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

On Friday evening, a surprising report linked Jones with a potential exit from Liverpool. With just two days remaining in the January transfer window, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed that Jones could join Italian giants Inter Milan on loan. Romano tweeted:

“Inter are in direct talks with Liverpool for Curtis Jones on a loan deal with an option to buy. Negotiations are ongoing and linked to Davide Frattesi’s potential exit, with Nottingham Forest waiting for an answer. Inter and Liverpool are discussing today.”

The Serie A side had reportedly been looking at Jones as a replacement for midfielder Davide Frattesi, who has been linked with a move to Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

However, Pearce has since dismissed the rumors, calling the reports “nonsense” and saying that claims of an imminent departure are “wide of the mark.”

Ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United, head coach Arne Slot was asked whether the Reds would be active before the transfer deadline. He responded:

“If we believe we can bring in a player who can help us and it’s possible, we will do so. But those conversations happen elsewhere, not in this room.”

Liverpool have recently been linked with signing a right-back following injuries to Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley. Players like Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo have already filled in at full-back and could be asked to step in again in the coming weeks.
