Real Madrid Line Up £87m Bid for Tottenham Ace Amid Transfer Willingness

Real Madrid Plot £87m Move for Tottenham Captain Cristian Romero
Real Madrid are reportedly lining up a £87 million bid for Tottenham captain Cristian Romero in a dramatic deadline-day approach, according to Fichajes.
Tottenham’s campaign has been difficult so far, with the club sitting 14th in the Premier League under Thomas Frank, who is facing increasing pressure.
However, Spurs recently boosted morale by securing qualification for the Champions League round of 16 after beating Eintracht Frankfurt to finish fourth in their group.
Romero, who signed a new contract last summer that made him Spurs’ top earner and succeeded Heung-Min Son as captain, has experienced an inconsistent season. The Argentine centre-back has netted six goals but has also picked up three suspensions, prompting debate over his leadership qualities. Even so, he continues to be viewed as one of the elite defenders in world football.
Real Madrid, eager to revive their season following the dismissal of Xabi Alonso in January, are said to be ready to make a bold move for Romero. The Spanish giants currently find themselves in the Champions League playoff stage and trail Barcelona by just one point in La Liga. New boss Álvaro Arbeloa is believed to have approved the transfer, with Madrid confident the defender would be open to the switch.
Spurs Unlikely to Sanction Mid-Season Exit
Despite the size of the proposed offer, Tottenham are expected to reject any approach for Romero during the season.
Allowing their captain to leave now would significantly weaken the squad, and securing a suitable replacement would be extremely difficult, especially with injuries already stretching Frank’s options. Spurs are more likely to reassess any potential deal after the season, keeping their stance firm for now.
