Tottenham Board make Emergency Meeting decision as Heat Intensifies on Thomas Frank

 

 

Tottenham Hotspur snatched a late point at Burnley on Saturday, with Cristian Romero rising highest in the 90th minute to seal a dramatic 2–2 draw.

However, the result did little to ease the growing pressure on Thomas Frank. Spurs had gone ahead through Micky van de Ven, only for Axel Tuanzebe to level just before the break. Despite a series of excellent saves from Martin Dubravka, Burnley seized the advantage in the second half via Lyle Foster. Romero’s late intervention ensured a share of the spoils, though neither side will feel satisfied.

The draw lifts Burnley to 15 points, while Spurs sit on 28.

While Spurs showed resilience to claw their way back, there were familiar concerns throughout the performance. Confidence appeared fragile, creativity was scarce, and the visitors looked alarmingly exposed on the counter after the interval. Dubravka’s heroics masked deeper issues, as Spurs struggled for structure and intent in possession.

These problems have become a recurring theme under Frank. His weary demeanour at full-time — trudging off amid chants from travelling supporters calling for his dismissal — underlined the tension. The squad appears unconvinced by his approach, and Spurs were fortunate to escape with a draw against a Burnley side now winless in 14 Premier League matches.

Burnley travel to Sunderland on Monday, February 2, while Spurs face a daunting home clash against Manchester City on Sunday, February 1.
