Tottenham are reportedly planning a shock move to quietly offload a key first-team player.

Tottenham could be on the verge of a major overhaul in their goalkeeping ranks, with reports suggesting the club is quietly open to moving on from Guglielmo Vicario. Despite establishing himself as Spurs’ clear first choice since joining, the Italian’s future in North London has come under scrutiny following a drop in form and increasing interest from Italy.

Transfer insider Dean Jones of TEAMTALK claims Tottenham have been exploring the goalkeeper market on two fronts. The club is said to be seeking a strong backup to push for the No. 1 spot, while also discreetly assessing elite options who could step in as a long-term replacement should Vicario be sold.

The shift in approach is believed to be driven by fresh interest from Inter Milan. The Serie A champions are reportedly keeping tabs on Vicario as a potential successor to experienced keeper Yann Sommer.

Although Spurs are not actively trying to offload the 29-year-old, their position has reportedly softened. Tottenham would consider a sale if the right offer comes in and if Vicario is keen on a return to Italy. The report adds that the goalkeeper is open to the idea, though he remains conflicted due to his ambition to prove himself in the Premier League.

Vicario’s spell at Spurs has been a mixed journey since his arrival from Empoli in 2023.
