Thomas Frank’s tenure at Tottenham now seems almost certain to end, following a revealing report from well-known journalist David Ornstein. Speaking on NBC Sports, Ornstein stated that it is now “a matter of when, not if” the club will part ways with the 52-year-old coach.

Frustration, Ornstein explained, extends beyond fans to the club’s leadership, with several players reportedly unhappy with the team’s current direction and “understandably dissatisfied” with Frank’s results. While Ornstein emphasized that Frank is “not a bad manager,” he suggested that the coach may simply be the wrong fit for Spurs, leaving little hope for a turnaround.

In the short term, Tottenham are expected to place recently appointed assistant John Heitinga in temporary charge for the rest of the season. The 42-year-old Dutchman, who has played for Ajax, Atletico Madrid, and Everton, has also held coaching positions at Ajax and worked under Arne Slot at Liverpool. He joined Frank’s staff on January 15, though it now appears the club may have envisioned a larger role for him.

Looking further ahead, Tottenham are already considering long-term managerial replacements. Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner, who will leave his current post this summer, is reportedly under consideration. Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola and former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino are also said to be on the board’s radar. According to talkSPORT, there is growing optimism about Pochettino returning to north London. The Argentine, who led Spurs from 2014 to 2019 and reached a Champions League final, is reportedly open to a Premier League return but would likely wait due to his current role as head coach of the United States national team, with a focus on the 2026 World Cup.

Tottenham have also been linked to ex-Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso, though recent reports suggest he is unlikely to take the job, expecting more prestigious opportunities soon.

Meanwhile, Spurs continue to pursue attacking reinforcements after missing out on previous targets such as Antoine Semenyo and two Manchester City forwards. A fourth option has reportedly been cleared for departure. Turkish reports indicate Tottenham are close to signing a striker who can cover two key positions following Richarlison’s hamstring injury.

Additionally, the club is monitoring a top midfielder on Manchester United’s shortlist, with sources detailing what would be required to complete the transfer. At the same time, Spurs may face challenges in keeping one of their star players, as Liverpool are reportedly considering a £90 million offer ahead of the summer window.
