Tottenham Make Call on Thomas Frank’s Future After Internal Talks
Sky Sports News reports that Thomas Frank continues to have the support of several influential figures within Tottenham’s board, which has delayed any definitive decision on his future. As things stand, the Dane is expected to lead Spurs into Tuesday night’s Champions League showdown with Borussia Dortmund.
Despite growing scrutiny following Saturday’s 2–1 home loss to West Ham, Tottenham have yet to reach a final verdict on Frank’s position. Club officials are said to be assessing potential alternatives after internal discussions over his long-term suitability, but for now, Frank is due to carry on as usual for the upcoming fixture.
Frank has overseen just one win from his last eight matches, arriving at the Dortmund tie on the back of three straight defeats. In total, Spurs have managed seven victories in 22 games this season and currently sit 14th in the Premier League, eight points off the top five while maintaining a 10-point cushion above the relegation zone.
His points-per-game return in the league stands at 1.23, the lowest of any of Tottenham’s past eight managers, including Ange Postecoglou, who averaged 1.52 before his dismissal at the end of last season.
In Europe, Spurs have picked up 11 points from their first six Champions League outings, suffering just one defeat — a 5–3 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in November. Frank signed a three-year deal when he took over in June, ending a seven-year tenure at Brentford.
However, doubts have also surfaced within the squad. According to David Ornstein, a number of players have grown dissatisfied with Frank’s leadership, with some questioning whether he is the right man for the job after a challenging first seven months.
Fans made their feelings clear after the West Ham defeat, booing the players off and chanting “you’re getting sacked in the morning” at Frank following Callum Wilson’s stoppage-time winner. After Tuesday’s Dortmund clash, Tottenham return to league action on Saturday with a trip to face 18th-placed Burnley.
