Mohamed Salah has drawn criticism from some of his Muslim followers after posting a family photo in front of a Christmas tree with the caption #MerryChristmas.
The photo, featuring the Liverpool star, his wife Magi, and their daughters Makka and Kayan in matching pajamas, has become a yearly tradition, despite objections from those who consider it unsuitable for a Muslim.
Many expressed disappointment and called for the post to be removed, accusing Salah of betraying his Muslim supporters. However, others defended him, applauding his festive spirit and urging critics to respect his personal choices, while highlighting the recurring negativity he faces annually.
Undeterred by the backlash, Salah continues to celebrate and share his family’s Christmas tradition, remaining steadfast in his approach.
