The FA later confirmed on X that Tottenham and Aston Villa have been charged with misconduct for failing to control their players after the final whistle. Both clubs have until Friday to respond, with the FA keen to resolve the matter quickly due to the high-profile nature of the incident.

The ruling has only deepened frustration among Spurs fans, as it marks the club’s second FA charge in just over a month. Previously, Cristian Romero was handed an extra one-match ban and fined £50,000 for aggressive behaviour toward a referee following his red card against Liverpool. Many supporters believe Tottenham are being unfairly singled out, with one fan posting on X: “The FA are a joke. Maybe they should start holding referees accountable for losing control of games.”
