Jürgen Klopp set for sensational return to the dugout as he targets one dream job

 

 

Jürgen Klopp is open to a dramatic return to top-level management if Real Madrid make a firm move for him ahead of the 2026/27 season, according to respected reporter Florian Plettenberg. The German has been heavily linked with a return to the touchline, and Madrid – a club that has fascinated him for years – could be the spark that brings him back.

Although Klopp currently serves as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull, a position he took after leaving Liverpool in 2024, those close to him say his passion for elite coaching has never faded. While the Red Bull role offers influence across multiple clubs and long-term strategy, it lacks the daily emotion and competitive edge of management – something Klopp has admitted he still feels “deeply connected” to.

Plettenberg reports that Klopp would only come out of retirement for two “perfect fit” projects: Real Madrid, a club that has captivated him for over a decade, and the Germany national team, his long-held ambition.

Klopp has long admired Madrid’s history, values, and global prestige. Even after intense clashes with Los Blancos during his Liverpool tenure – including the 2022 Champions League final defeat – his respect for the club has remained immense.

Real Madrid are already preparing for a major reset in the summer of 2026, following recent instability and the exit of Xabi Alonso. As they assess long-term options, Klopp’s potential availability is viewed as a rare, once-in-a-generation opportunity.
