Report: Liverpool weighing up move for player sporting one of football’s most infamous hairstyles

Liverpool are said to be considering a move for Borussia Dortmund defender Julian Ryerson as they search for cover following Conor Bradley’s injury.

Bradley suffered a serious setback during the Reds’ goalless draw away at Arsenal, prompting Liverpool to explore their options in the January transfer window. According to Absolut Fussball, Ryerson has emerged as a potential target. The Norwegian has caught the eye at Dortmund, operating mainly as a right wing-back but also proving his versatility by featuring across the back line, including centrally and on the left.

While his performances have drawn praise, Ryerson has also been noted — somewhat amusingly — for a questionable leopard-print hairstyle, which may raise eyebrows even if it has little bearing on his footballing ability.

Liverpool’s need for right-back depth has grown since Trent Alexander-Arnold’s summer departure, which led to the arrival of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. Frimpong has often been deployed in more advanced roles, leaving Bradley as the first-choice right-back, with Dominik Szoboszlai occasionally filling in.

With Bradley now expected to be sidelined for a lengthy period, a player like Ryerson could offer valuable depth to Arne Slot’s squad. The 26-year-old has contributed one goal and ten assists across club and international competitions this season, underlining his influence at both ends of the pitch.

That said, reports from David Ornstein suggest Liverpool are not currently prioritising the signing of a new right-back this month, so it remains to be seen whether their interest in Ryerson develops into a concrete move.
