Tottenham submit £52m bid for Brahim Diaz, smashing Real Madrid’s valuation

Tottenham’s 2–1 FA Cup loss to Aston Villa has intensified frustration among supporters, many of whom believe the squad is crying out for players capable of making an immediate difference.
So far, Spurs have brought in Mason Melia for £1.6m and agreed a £13m deal for Santos left-back Souza. There has also been interest in Conor Gallagher, while Tottenham are understood to have tested the waters for Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz — though securing his signature could be challenging if Xabi Alonso remains unmoved.
Real Madrid’s stance on Brahim Diaz
Real Madrid are reluctant to sell Diaz unless they receive an outstanding offer. Alonso has spoken highly of the attacker in the past, but Spurs’ approach has put his future in focus. Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that Tottenham have submitted a £52m bid for the Morocco international, who is currently impressing at AFCON.
Madrid’s position is firm: Diaz is not on the market unless a significant proposal arrives. The club have reportedly set an internal valuation of £35m, and they would not even consider negotiations below that figure for the 26-year-old.
Tottenham’s opening offer comfortably surpasses that benchmark, meaning talks could still progress despite Madrid’s initial resistance. For Los Blancos, turning down such a fee for a player who is not a guaranteed starter may prove difficult, particularly given his current market value.
Why Diaz would be a major coup for Spurs
Diaz made AFCON history on Friday by becoming the first Moroccan player to score in five consecutive games at a single tournament, helping his side into the semi-finals with victory over Cameroon.
Since arriving at Real Madrid from Manchester City for £15m in 2019, he has racked up 129 appearances, scoring 21 goals and supplying 23 assists. He also spent three seasons on loan at AC Milan, where he played 124 matches, netted 18 goals and added 15 assists, playing a vital role in their 2021/22 Serie A title win.

Diaz could immediately slot in on the right flank as a replacement for Mohammed Kudus, and with Brennan Johnson sold to Crystal Palace for £35m, Tottenham are in pressing need of attacking reinforcements.
With pressure continuing to mount on Frank, Spurs may have little choice but to offer strong financial backing to get a deal for Diaz over the line.
