Tottenham step up efforts to land Conor Gallagher and a Real Madrid star as fresh details emerge over Thomas Frank’s uncertain future.

Tottenham step up chase for Conor Gallagher and Real Madrid star as Thomas Frank future in focus

Tottenham are intensifying their efforts to beat Aston Villa to the signing of Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher, while reports also claim the club has lodged a bid for a Real Madrid attacker. At the same time, fresh details have emerged regarding the uncertainty surrounding Thomas Frank’s position.

Spurs are targeting reinforcements in several areas this month, with club officials aware that the current squad is falling short of expectations. Recent results have underlined those concerns, with Tottenham knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa and managing only two points from their last six Premier League matches, leaving them sitting 14th in the table.

The north London side are keen to climb the league standings and remain competitive in Europe, following last season’s Europa League success. To achieve that, new arrivals are viewed as essential, and the club is exploring options from two major LaLiga sides, while Brazilian left-back Souza is also close to joining.

Spurs push ahead in Gallagher pursuit

Atletico Madrid are prepared to let Gallagher leave this month if their conditions are met. The Spanish club are open to a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy, and several Premier League teams are monitoring the situation.

Gallagher is understood to be open to returning to England as he looks to increase his chances of forcing his way back into the national team after limited game time in Spain.

Aston Villa recently made a strong move for the 25-year-old, placing added pressure on Tottenham to act quickly. Sources indicate Spurs see this as a crucial window if they are to secure his signature.

There is some concern in north London over Gallagher’s current wage package at Atletico, which sits close to the top of Tottenham’s salary structure. However, negotiations over personal terms could still make a deal possible.

Tottenham’s interest in Gallagher dates back to before his move to Spain, when he left Chelsea for around £34m. With midfield options becoming stretched, the club is increasingly keen to add another central player and has yet to decide whether to make Bayern Munich loanee João Palhinha a permanent signing.

Reported bid for Brahim Díaz

Elsewhere, Tottenham are said to have submitted a £52m offer for Real Madrid forward Brahim Díaz. The versatile attacker can operate on either wing or in an advanced midfield role and has started only a handful of league matches this season.

According to reports from Spain, the offer has been placed on the table while Díaz is currently representing Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations, where he has been in strong form and recently set a national tournament scoring record.

Real Madrid are reportedly considering the proposal, though the reliability of the claim has been questioned due to the source’s mixed track record.

Split views over Thomas Frank’s position

Behind the scenes, Tottenham’s leadership is divided on whether to make a change in the dugout. Some senior figures are said to believe Frank’s tactical approach does not suit the current squad, despite him being well-regarded personally and having the support of the players.

Concerns remain over whether the squad fully believes in the system being implemented, with internal discussions continuing as results fail to improve.
