James Maddison speaks out with message after confirmed Tottenham exit

James Maddison’s season at Tottenham has been one to forget. The England midfielder suffered a ruptured ACL during pre-season and faces the possibility of missing the entire campaign. His replacement, Mohammed Kudus — signed from West Ham — initially filled the void but has since been ruled out with an injury of his own.

That influence was clear in his support for Yang Min-Hyeok, who has joined Coventry City on loan for the remainder of the season after his initial spell at Portsmouth ended by mutual consent. Maddison sent the youngster a message on Instagram, saying:
“Let’s go, Yang! What a city and what a club — I told you that in pre-season. Good luck, mate.”

Spurs will be hoping for Maddison’s return sooner rather than later, a feeling shared by Yang, who replied by referring to him as a Coventry legend.

Maddison’s career began at Coventry, where he made 42 appearances before moving to Norwich and kick-starting his rise. His attacking output across clubs highlights that progression: 10 goal contributions at Coventry, 29 at Norwich, 96 at Leicester, and 37 at Tottenham.

After recording five goals and five assists during his time at Coventry, Maddison went on to become a standout performer at Leicester and later Spurs. If Yang can replicate even a fraction of that success, he may one day earn similar recognition at Tottenham.
