An Arsenal star reportedly had their ‘payslip’ leaked after allegedly leaving it in their car at a garage.

An Arsenal player once had their “payslip” leaked online, providing a rare glimpse into the earnings of a footballer at a top European club.

While it’s well-known that playing for elite European teams is one of the highest-paid professions globally, exact salary figures are typically kept private by clubs. Media outlets often speculate on player earnings, but certain leagues, like the MLS in the United States, publicly disclose these figures.

In Europe, however, there have been instances where player payslips were leaked, and this allegedly happened to an Arsenal star in 2019.

Raheem Sterling, who now plays for Arsenal, reportedly had his payslip discovered during his tenure as one of Manchester City’s highest earners. The slip was supposedly found in his car at a garage and subsequently shared online.

The document detailed Sterling’s basic salary, loyalty bonus, and a significant tax bill of £5.4 million. However, the authenticity of the slip has not been confirmed, and it could have been altered.

Sterling played 339 matches for Manchester City, scoring 131 goals and winning multiple trophies, including four Premier League titles and five League Cups. In 2022, he moved to Chelsea for £47.5 million, where he made 81 appearances and scored 19 goals over two seasons.

Despite his contributions, Chelsea’s struggles—finishing 12th and 9th in his first two seasons—led to Sterling falling out of favor with new manager Enzo Maresca. This tension culminated in a season-long loan to Arsenal on the final day of the summer transfer window.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling,” Sterling said of the move. “It came together late, but it’s a perfect fit for me. I’m super happy we got it over the line.”
