Revealed: Tottenham plotting “extraordinary” move to appoint a high-profile successor to Thomas Frank

Tottenham are said to be drawing up “extraordinary” plans to try and lure former boss Mauricio Pochettino back to the club as a replacement for Thomas Frank. Now in charge of the United States men’s national team, Pochettino remains widely regarded as Spurs’ most successful manager in the modern era.

During his five-year spell from 2014 to 2019, the Argentine transformed Tottenham into genuine title challengers and consistent top-four finishers. Since leaving north London, he has gone on to win silverware with Paris Saint-Germain and later enjoyed a respectable return to the Premier League with Chelsea.

Could Pochettino be the solution to Tottenham’s ongoing issues?

Spurs have struggled for stability since his departure, with high-profile appointments such as José Mourinho and Antonio Conte ultimately failing to deliver sustained success. Ange Postecoglou did end the club’s trophy drought by winning the Europa League last season, but a disappointing 17th-place Premier League finish led to his dismissal.

Thomas Frank was appointed in the summer, but his reign has yet to convince. Tottenham currently sit in mid-table, and supporters have voiced frustration over what they see as uninspiring football.

Against that backdrop, a Pochettino return is being viewed by some as the ideal fix. Reports suggest there are already serious doubts within the club about Frank’s long-term suitability, placing Pochettino firmly back on the radar.

He may be settled in his role with the US national team, where international management offers both prestige and a lighter daily workload.
