Liverpool currently sit at the top of the Premier League standings and are preparing to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window. Following an impressive 6-3 victory over Tottenham last weekend, they have once again proven why they are favorites to claim the league title this season.
Under the guidance of Arne Slot, Liverpool’s form has been exceptional, with a level of consistency that surpasses even the heights achieved under former manager Jürgen Klopp. However, reinforcements will be crucial in January if they wish to maintain their position as title contenders.
One area that manager Slot may target is the left-back position, as Andy Robertson has struggled for form this season. Additionally, Kostas Tsimikas has faced recurring fitness issues, prompting the Premier League leaders to consider entering the market for a new left-back.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has identified Fulham’s Antonee Robinson as a top target for the Reds in the upcoming window. Speaking on Sky Sports about Robinson’s performance in Fulham’s recent 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield, Carragher said:
“He was outstanding. He was the best player on the pitch. When you’re playing at Anfield against Mo Salah—arguably the best player in the Premier League this season—and come away with a Man of the Match award, it shows the quality he possesses. I think Liverpool will likely look for a left-back in January, and he’ll surely be at the top of their list.”
The USA international has impressed this season with his ability to contribute both in defense and attack, making him an ideal addition to Liverpool’s squad. His presence would provide much-needed depth and quality in defense.
However, securing Robinson’s signature in January may prove challenging, as Fulham would be reluctant to lose one of their key players. Still, the allure of competing for a league title could sway the defender’s decision if Liverpool pursue their interest.
Another left-back reportedly linked with Liverpool is Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, who could also be an option to bolster the squad.
