Liverpool Table Bid for “Unstoppable” £65m Star Tipped as New Luis Díaz
Liverpool appear to have rediscovered their stability, but the spark that once defined them is still missing. Saturday’s Premier League win over bottom-placed Wolves was effective rather than convincing, with the Reds showing visible nerves in the second half. It underlined a lingering issue: this side is still struggling to manage games calmly to the final whistle, something Arne Slot must continue to rebuild over the coming weeks and months.
That sense of balance cannot be achieved through defensive solidity alone. Liverpool’s attacking unit has looked slightly out of sync this season, particularly across the front line, where fluency and edge have been lacking.
As a result, Fenway Sports Group are preparing to move for a new wide attacker in the January transfer window. Liverpool chose not to replace Luis Díaz directly last summer after the Colombian completed a £65.5m move to Bayern Munich in August, but his pace, intensity and threat down the left side have clearly been missed.

According to sources in Spain, Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi could be available, with Liverpool reportedly testing the waters with an opening €20m (£17m) bid for the Germany international. Dortmund are said to be unimpressed by that valuation, particularly given Adeyemi was once priced at around €75m (£65m). Sporting director Richard Hughes is understood to be carefully assessing the situation, and it would not be surprising if Liverpool return with an improved offer in the near future.
Now 23, Adeyemi is in his fourth season at Dortmund and continues to develop. Described as a devastating “counter-attacking weapon,” he has registered six goals and three assists in 22 appearances across all competitions this season. While he has yet to reach his peak, his finishing ability already complements his explosive pace and technical quality out wide.
In many ways, Adeyemi mirrors the profile Díaz brought to Anfield. Last season, Díaz produced 17 goals and eight assists for Liverpool and was even deployed centrally at times under Slot — a role Adeyemi has also filled during his career. Like the former Liverpool winger, the German is quick, direct and intelligent with his movement, combining flair with efficiency.
Statistically, the similarities are striking. Data from FBref places Adeyemi among the top 7% of attacking peers in Europe’s top five leagues for non-penalty goals per 90 minutes over the past year, with Díaz listed as one of his closest comparables. Beyond goals, Adeyemi shares Díaz’s disciplined use of pace and work rate, making him effective without being wasteful.
Although naturally right-sided due to his left foot, Adeyemi’s profile suggests he could arrive not only as a Díaz-type replacement but also as a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah. Now increasingly labelled “unstoppable” on his day, Adeyemi may be approaching the right moment to make the jump to the Premier League — and potentially become the attacking catalyst Slot needs to shape Liverpool’s next era.
