Ibrahima Konaté’s tweet about Arsenal fans after Bukayo Saka’s injury has gained significant attention online. The Liverpool defender didn’t shy away from delivering a sharp critique of some Arsenal supporters following Saka’s recent injury setback. The winger was forced off the field just 24 minutes into Arsenal’s match against Crystal Palace on Saturday, clutching his hamstring in visible pain—a concerning development for the Gunners’ title ambitions.
Despite Arsenal’s commanding 5-1 win without Saka, the sight of him leaving Selhurst Park on crutches has left fans uneasy. While the exact duration of his absence is unknown, Mikel Arteta’s post-match comments hinted at serious concern.
As the Premier League title race heats up, Liverpool fans took the opportunity to mock their rivals over the incident. However, Konaté wasted no time addressing a small section of Arsenal fans known for celebrating opponents’ injuries, calling out their behavior in light of this situation.
Konaté Fires Back at Arsenal Fans
Last month, after Konaté sustained an injury during Liverpool’s clash with Real Madrid, an Arsenal fan posted on X (formerly Twitter), wishing for the injury to be severe. While such remarks are widely condemned as lacking basic decency, Konaté clearly hasn’t forgotten the comment.
Following Saka’s injury on Saturday, a Liverpool fan posted a picture of Saka on the ground, accompanied by the caption, “Karma is a b****.” As tensions escalated online, Konaté stepped in to remind Liverpool fans not to stoop to similar levels. He replied:
“We are not like them… 👀, we wish no harm. Anyway, In Sha Allah, big 3 pts today.”
Konaté, still recovering from injury, missed Liverpool’s thrilling 6-3 victory over Tottenham on Sunday, which solidified their position at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Arteta expressed his growing concern over Saka’s condition, acknowledging the importance of the winger to Arsenal’s campaign.
Arteta told the Daily Mail:
“He (Saka) felt something in his hamstring and couldn’t continue. He needs to be assessed, but I’m pretty worried.”
Without Saka, Arsenal faces an uphill battle to close the six-point gap to Liverpool in the race for Premier League glory.
